The 2022 The Nines is our definitive expression of Grenache, sourced primarily from the prized Blocks 9A and 9B, with nuanced support from seven additional blocks and clones across the estate. Each site contributes its own subtle character, adding depth and complexity to the final blend. Aged predominantly in puncheon (71%), with smaller portions in Foudre (15%) and barrel (14%), the wine carries a delicate balance between purity of fruit and oak influence; especially from select new barrels chosen to elevate the most opulent lots. A touch of whole cluster (4%) adds texture and aromatic intrigue. On the nose, it’s an explosive combination of ripe Kirsch, raspberry, and crisp pomegranate, accented by fresh, savory herbs like thyme and marjoram, and deepened by dark red floral notes. The palate is gently draped with finely-knit tannins that glide thoughtfully from front to back, leaving a long, graceful finish. Crushed limestone minerality accentuates the wine’s elegant structure and sense of place. This is 100% Grenache at its most expressive and a stunning showcase of the 2022 vintage’s harmony and power.
