2023 Beguiling

88% Grenache, 12% Syrah

97 Pts. jeb Dunnuck | $90

The 2023 Beguiling is a profound expression of estate Grenache, sourced from nearly every Grenache block on the estate. It was fermented with 6% whole cluster and aged in a thoughtful mix of puncheons, barrels (44% new French oak), Foudre, and concrete egg, gaining subtle polish and layered complexity. In the glass, Beguiling is dark and expressive, with aromas of dark cherry liqueur, kirsch, candied red fruit, brambly cranberry, currant, and hints of raspberry. Floral notes weave through warming spice, crushed herbs, and a supporting touch of Syrah, adding darker fruit, savory nuance, subtle anise, and a gentle gamey edge. Medium-plus to full-bodied on the palate, it balances power and poise with concentrated fruit, fresh precision, and ripe, grippy tannins. While approachable in its youth, it will continue to evolve beautifully over the next decade and beyond, with an ideal drinking window emerging between 2030 and 2035. Powerful, and expressive, this is Grenache in one of its most complete and captivating forms.
